Editing
I offer developmental editing, copy or line-editing, and editorial assessments. (Please inquire below about proofreading or beta-reading.) I am new to the industry, but by no means inexperienced. For samples of my work, please reach out to my via the contact submission at the bottom of this page. Whether you are looking for a fresh set of eyes on your manuscript, a heavy-duty spin cycle to wring out those grammar issues, or simply a page of honest feedback, there's an option for you.
Developmental Editing
This is the "big picture" edit, and is usually the first round of editing a book receives. This edit looks at character development, plot, setting, dialogue, maintaining a consistent point of view, and other such things.
Approximate cost: $0.0050 per word ($250 for a 50,000 word manuscript)
What you'll get: A multiple-page letter from me explaining the strengths and weaknesses of your manuscript, errors I've discovered, and recommended steps for improvement. This is not just a manuscript review; I go into the details of your book's plot structure and guide you in creating a meaningful, memorable story.
Line Editing
This is the sentence-level edit, which typically happens after the developmental edit of a book. This kind of editing is much more time-consuming for me as I take each sentence and make sure it is the best it can be.
Approximate cost: $0.0060 per word ($300 for a 50,000 word manuscript)
What you'll get: Your entire manuscript with my edits, suggestions, and improvements. You can go through and accept or reject my edits at your discretion. I edit with the Christian Writer's Manual of Style, a dictionary and a thesaurus close at hand to sharpen your book's grammar, structure, and word choice.
Editorial Assessment
If you're just not sure what kind of edit your book needs, or if you don't think it needs any at all, but you still want another opinion, this is the option for you. An editorial assessment looks at your story from multiple angles and considers the scale of further work it needs. This is also a great way to be sure your manuscript is ready to be sent to an editor.
Approximate cost: $0.0010 per word ($50 for a 50,000 word manuscript)
PLUS a 20% discount for developmental or line editing afterwards.
What you'll get: A multiple-page letter from me about the strengths and weaknesses of your story and a recommendation for what kind of editing needs to be done.

Beta-Reading
I love beta-reading! But I will say, I am very picky about the kinds of books I'll read. Please reach out to me for about beta-reading your book for free if your story meets these requirements, and depending on my time availability, I'll try to get that done for you!
Absolutely Necessary Requirements
* Absolutely no swearing, gore, intense violence, erotica, "spicy" or "medium-spicy" romance. If in doubt about if your romance is too much, it probably is. Sorry.
* I am a Christian writer and reader. I don't read things that aren't uplifting and generally positive, excited, and hopeful. I don't read melancholy stories, tragedies, "downers", or anything scary or associated with the horror genre. This includes dark fantasy and murder mysteries.
I know how exciting it is to get a high-quality book review from an experienced reader and writer, so I'd love to do the same for you. If your book sounds like the kind of thing I might like, please reach out via the contact submission at the bottom of this page with details about your book and the deadline. I will do my best to write you an honest review for free because I love supporting fellow authors.
Project Requirements
The following requirements apply to ALL projects, editing and formatting included. Please review and make sure your book adheres to these guidelines before submitting an inquiry.

Since developmental editing requires an excellent grasp on the story tropes, conventions, and expectations, I will do my best editing within my preferred genres, in which I have read extensively. These categories are:
* Middle-grade mysteries, fantasy, sci-fi, historical fiction, action-adventure, and Christian fiction.
* YA speculative fiction and Christian fiction.
* Adult high fantasy, historical fantasy, and Christian fiction, Biblical fiction.
Sumbit an Inquiry!
Now that you've reviewed my services and project requirements, I highly encourage you to submit an inquiry! Even if I don't end up working on your project, I would still love to hear what you are working on and offer any encouragement that I can.
